Senior Chinese security official Meng Jianzhu on Sunday met with visiting Vietnamese Minister of Public Security Tran Dai Quang on promoting security cooperation.

Meng, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, said friendly cooperation is in line with the common interests of the two neighboring socialist countries led by communist parties.

Deepening cooperation in law enforcement and security fields is significant for strengthening China-Vietnam relations, said Meng, head of the Commission for Political and Legal Affairs of the CPC Central Committee.

Meng urged the two sides to protect each other's institutions, enterprises and citizens in their own countries and do more practical things for safeguarding economic growth, social development, national security and stability of the two countries.

Tran, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee, said the Vietnamese side is willing to work with China to enhance the comprehensive strategic partnership.
