China to open annual civil service recruitment

The annual application process for civil service jobs starting next year will begin on Wednesday, with at least 22,200 vacancies to fill.

According to a statement published on the website of the State Administration of Civil Service, people can apply on the website from Oct. 15 to 24. Each applicant can only apply for one post in one department.

People found to have faked personal information in order to qualify to sit the civil service exam will be barred from sitting it. They will also be prevented from applying to the civil service for five years.

The written examination will be held on Nov. 30 and interviews will be held later.

Civil servant jobs are popular in China as they offer relative stability. As many as 990,000 candidates took the 2014 National Public Servant Exam, competing for about 19,000 vacancies.
