Record passengers numbers on China's holiday railways

Nearly 9.02 million train trips were made on Friday, the third day of the National Day Holiday, up 11.3 from last year, the China Railway Corporation said on Saturday.

On Friday, the rail operator dispatched 5,186 trains, including 295 additional trains to accommodate the holiday rush, to guarantee all passengers reach their destinations.

Traffic in major cities continued to rise on Friday. Nearly 1.02 million passengers left Beijing by train, an increase of 12.5 percent. Nearly 1.85 million left Shanghai, up 9.7 percent, and 1.19 million left Guangzhou, up 15.5 percent.

The company said that 9 million trips are expected on Saturday.

Earlier data showed that nearly 11.73 million trips were made on Oct. 1, a record high.
