Counter-terror drill held in Beijing before holiday

Beijing police have conducted a counter-terror drill to guarantee security and stability in the Chinese capital during the upcoming National Day holiday.

The drill which involved more than 1,000 personnel was held in 22 locations across the capital city, including the Tian'anmen Square, the Beijing West Railway Station and the Capital International Airport.

According to an official, it was the tenth anti-terrorism drill that Beijing has held this year.

It was designed to further improve the city's ability to cope with emergencies and create a better social environment during the seven-day National Day Holiday that starts on October 1.
