Prosecutors in south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region have opened an investigation into a municipal political advisor, the Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP) said Friday.

Huang Fuming, former deputy chairman of the political advisory body of Fangchenggang City in Guangxi, is suspected of taking bribes, the statement said.

Huang has been "placed under coercive measures," according to the statement.

According to China's criminal procedure law, coercive measures include summons by force, bail, residential surveillance, detention and arrest. The SPP did not specify which measures have been taken so far.
