Cross-cultural marriages

The Beijing Civil Affairs Bureau has announced that starting on September 25, cross-cultural marriages can be registered at the county and district levels instead of at a municipal bureau, reported the Beijing Times.

Cross-cultural marriages apply to Chinese nationals who are married to foreigners, or are living overseas. It also includes spouses who are from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan regions.

This new scheme allows couples to go to the bureau closest to their home for marriage registration.
