Chinese worker dead in northern Turkey mine collapse

One Chinese worker was killed and another injured on Friday in coal mine collapse in the Black Sea region of northern Turkey, a Chinese diplomat confirmed in the Turkish capital Ankara.

The Chinese worker from China's Qitaihe Coal Mining Group in Heilongjiang province was seriously injured in the coal mine in Tarlaagzi neighborhood of Amasra town of Bartin province on Friday morning, when piles of coal collapsed where miners were preparing for work, said the diplomat.

He said that the Chinese embassy immediately contacted with the Chinese firm, requiring the company to take the necessary measures to ensure the safety of other Chinese workers and properly handle the funeral of the victim.
