China's badminton superstar Lin Dan, known as "Super Dan," on Wednesday said he would play to the best of his capabilities in a much anticipated showdown against his long-time rival, world No. 1 Lee Chong Wei of Malaysia.

"This is my fourth time to play in the Asian Games, an incredible opportunity that does not come easy," Lin told reporters upon arrival at Incheon Airport for the 17th Asian Games, which runs from September 19 to October 4.

Lin pledged to cherish the trip to Incheon and try to stage a satisfactory performance.

"I will adjust myself, both physically and psychologically, from the very first match," said the 30-year-old.

China's shock defeat to Japan in this year's Thomas Cup has prompted them to aim high in the Asian Games, Lin said.

But he also admitted that challenges did exist considering the long spell of the badminton tournament and the fact he is set to play in both team and men's singles events.

China's 20-member badminton squad comprises veterans like Lin Dan, reigning world women's single champion Li Xuerui, and Cai Yun, as well as several inexperienced players.

"For now, I wish the athletes to give full play to their capabilities, and perform as well as possible both technically and tactically," said head coach Li Yongbo.
