Taiwan students on Tuesday set a new Guinness World record for the most people playing Double Dutch at the same time.

A total of 750 students from 14 primary and middle schools across the island gathered in New Taipei for the record-breaking jump rope game to promote physical activity in schools.

Guinness representative John Garland declared it a world record, with 597 participants jumping rope for one minute without stumbling.

More than 2,000 students in the cities of Chiayi, Pingtung and Taitung also jumped rope on Tuesday to support the event.
