Senior CPC official meets European socialists

Liu Yunshan, a senior official of the Communist Party of China (CPC), met with a delegation of the Party of European Socialists (PES) headed by Sergei Stanishev here on Tuesday.

Liu, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, said China attaches great importance to ties with Europe and stands ready to work with the European side to build partnerships for peace, growth, reform and civilization, as agreed on between Chinese President Xi Jinping and leaders of the European Union (EU), and implement the China-EU 2020 Strategic Agenda for Cooperation.

The CPC is willing to interact with the PES and exchange experiences of governance to advance the China-EU comprehensive strategic partnership in a sustained and healthy way, Liu said.

Stanishev, president of the PES, said the EU-China relationship is based on reciprocal cooperation and mutual respect and that the PES looks forward to more exchanges with the CPC, to knowing more about China and to promoting the strategic partership between the EU and China.
