Three inmates in Yanshou county, Northeast China's Heilongjiang province, killed a police officer and escaped from a detention facility early Tuesday morning.

An official from the local publicity department confirmed to the Global Times that the three inmates at large are Wang Damin, 35, Gao Yulun, 50, and Li Haiwei, 29.

The three killed a police officer, stole a cellphone and ran away in police uniforms at around 4 am on Tuesday.

Police have issued a wanted notice and offered a 100,000 yuan ($16,270) cash reward to those who provide tips leading to the capture of the suspects.

Police said that the fugitives were not carrying guns.

The official denied an earlier report that two suspects have been caught, saying that police were still in pursuit, according to people.com.cn.
