Crackdown on illegal motorcycle taxis

Beijing is enforcing a crackdown on all illegal motorcycle taxis after the Beijing Traffic Administration Department reported that such taxis have led to 78 deaths in 2014, reported the Beijing Youth Daily.

The department has received over 6,000 complaints against illegal motorcycle taxis, operating without licenses and with unqualified drivers.

The drivers of these taxis are reported to frequently break the rules of the road and are a danger to other drivers. Drivers of these illegal taxis will be arrested by police and have their illegal vehicles detained.
