The Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), China's top political advisory body, has vowed closer cooperation with Pakistan's senate.
Yu Zhengsheng, chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, made the pledge in his meeting with a delegation of the Pakistan People's Party (PPP) led by PPP co-chairman and former president Asif Ali Zardari on Wednesday afternoon.
Yu, also a member of the Standing Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, said party-to-party communication is important for China-Pakistan relations, and urged the CPC and PPP to jointly develop mutual trust and cooperation between the two countries.
Zardari spoke highly of China's support for Pakistan on international and regional affairs.
He also pledged to work with China to develop bilateral relations.
Chinese Premier Li Keqiang also met with Zardari and his delegates on Wednesday afternoon.
