A new Beijing medical insurance scheme will soon allow people who work in Beijing but live in Yanjiao, Hebei province, to enjoy Beijing medical insurance at hospitals in Yanjiao, reported the Beijing Youth Daily.

It is estimated that the number of permanent residents in Yanjiao has reached nearly 600,000, with half of them commuting to Beijing for work. At present, those who have joined the Beijing medical insurance system through work are not entitled to a reimbursement if attending a Yanjiao hospital.

Before this change of the medical insurance system, Beijing's Chaoyang Hospital has already turned the Yanda Hospital in Yanjiao into its subdivision hospital in May.
