Beijing citizens enjoy a feast of culture

In Beijing, locals and visitors can now enjoy a feast of culture, at the right price. The capital has launched its annual season for the arts, when performance venues, theaters and cinemas in the city offer discounts to the public.

This year's event runs until mid-October. During that period, the National Center for the Performing Arts, the Beijing People's Art Theater and others will have over 500 performances, including live dramas, operas, symphonic concerts and traditional operas. About 200 of the shows will take 50 to 60 percent off of ticket prices. And movie-goers are also in for a treat, as many cinemas in the capital offer discounts as well.

The season lasts for about 2 months, covering a variety of art forms, leaving plenty of time for the public to enjoy the selection.
