HK govt official takes 'Ice Bucket Challenge'

Secretary for the Commerce and Economic Development of China's Hong Kong Gregory So completed the "Ice Bucket Challenge" by pouring a bucket of ice water over his head Wednesday to call for social's awareness on a serious motor neuron disease ALS.

"Despite taking the challenge, I will donate 100 U.S. dollars to the ALS association in the United States, and donate 10,000 HK dollars to two local charity organizations," So told the media.

So also named Hong Kong's artist Leon Lai Ming, Love Foundation 's Agnes Chiang and Tourism Board Chairman Peter Lam to take the challenge.

It is said that"Ice Bucket Challenge" was initiated by a baseball player in the United States to raise money for ALS patients.

According to the game rule of "Ice Bucket Challenge", participants have to pour a bucket of ice water over the head, and people who are invited to the challenge and do not do the pouring within 24 hours should donate 100 U.S. dollars to ALS Association to help patients.

Hong Kong's popular artists inlcuding Andy Lau, Miriam Yeung and Eason Chan also took the "Ice Bucket Challenge". They recorded the whole process of pouring and shared videos on the social media platforms like Facebook.
