A man held a wake for his dead cell phone at a shopping mall in Chongqing to protest a store's slow repair service on Sunday.

The dissatisfied customer, surnamed Su, conducted his memorial service outside the mall, which included a funeral wreath bearing the inscription: "I sent my new cell phone to get repaired a month ago and I still have not gotten it back."

Su claimed the smart phone he bought at the mall last month stopped working about two weeks later. The store offered to repair the phone.

However, Su claims he has returned to the mall several times this month and the repairs are not complete.

Store employees were unavailable for comment.

Police were eventually called and the store agreed to exchange the cell phone for a new one.

Officers reminded disgruntled shoppers to refrain from public stunts and file any consumer complaints at their local industrial and commercial administrative department.
