Chinese FM meets Thai foreign secretary in Myanmar

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Thai Permanent Foreign Secretary and acting Foreign Minister Sihasak Phuangketkeow, on the sidelines of the series of ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Meetings (AMM) on East Asia cooperation in Myanmar's capital of Nay Pyi Taw Saturday.

Wang stated that the Chinese side is glad to see that the situation in Thailand is gradually calming down, and wishes that the Thai people would make new strides forward on the path toward stability, reform and development.

He stressed that China will play a constructive role in the process, adding that Thailand, who is the coordinator of China- ASEAN relations, has done a great job in promoting this pair of relationship.

Sihasak said that no matter how the situation in Thailand changes, the Thai side will always make positive efforts to develop Thailand-China relations.

The Thai side is firmly committed to promoting dialogue and consultation between ASEAN and China as well as relations between the two sides, he said.

ASEAN-China relationship is an all-round one which requires both sides to have the whole picture in mind and boost cooperation, he added.
