With the Opening Ceremony only 11 days away, all the major venues are now ready, and one of the key themes about these sites is austerity.

35 venues will be employed during the Youth Olympics. Most of them were built before last year's Asian Youth Games. The only new building is the Youth Olympic Sports Park in Pukou District. After the Games, the park will be handed to Nanjing citizens, as an Olympic heritage.

Networks designed to reach all competition venues

Nanjing 2014 also boasts one of the most complicated communication networks in youth Olympic history. All the sporting venues, 15 non-sporting venues, and the Media Center are connected by more than 820-thousand meters of cable. Exclusive networks will be provided for Olympic Broadcasting Services, CCTV, official news agencies, and other media.

Anyone showing feverish symptoms will be monitored

With the Ebola outbreak continuing to cause concern around the world, Nanjing organizers are stepping up prevention measures. All patients showing signs of fever will be closely monitored, and quarantined if necessary. Beginning on August 10th, clinics in the Youth Olympic Village will be open 24/7 and a separate room will be reserved for patients with fevers.
