Shen Peiping, former vice governor of southwest China's Yunnan province, was expelled from the Communist Party of China (CPC) and dismissed from public office for graft probe, said the Party discipline inspection agency on Wednesday.

The investigation found that Shen took the advantage of his post to seek profits for others, accepted "a huge amount of bribe" and committed adultery, said a statement from the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI).

Shen had seriously violated the CPC disciplines and was suspected of breaking the law, the statement said.

His case has been handed over to prosecutors, it added.

The CCDI announced the investigation into Shen for suspected serious violation of discipline and laws in March.
