A man whose sister died after he struck her during an argument has been charged with intentional injury, Hongkou District Prosecutors' Office said on Wednesday.
The 60-year-old, surnamed Wang, was not charged with murder for while he had intended to hurt his sister with the blow, he had not meant to kill her, prosecutors said.
Wang took care of his 86-year-old mother and a disabled sister in his home, prosecutors said.
His elder sister, also surnamed Wang, often visited at weekends.
On February 8, an argument over care of their mother turned physical, and the brother struck his sister with a heavy blow to the head, according to prosecutors.
His sister was taken to hospital but died there of head injuries.
The brother was held by police at the scene.
