S Africa condemns terrorist attack in China's Xinjiang

The South African government on Wednesday condemned "in the strongest possible terms" the terrorist attacks which took place in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.

Dozens of civilians were killed or injured in the terrorist attack early on Monday morning in Shache County, Kashgar Prefecture.

According to the local police, initial investigation showed that it was a premeditated terror attack. Further investigation is underway.

"The South Africa government condemns all forms and manner of terrorism. We believe that terrorism in any form and from whichever quarter cannot be condoned," said Clayson Monyela, spokesperson of the Department of International Relations and Cooperation.

"The South African government sends it deepest condolences to the government and the people of the People's Republic of China, and in particular to the families of the deceased, and wishes the injured speedy recoveries," Monyela said.
