Swedish striker happy to join compatriots in CSL

Chinese Super League giants Beijing Guoan Tuesday unveiled their second foreign signing this summer as Sweden striker Erton Fejzullahu joined the club on a loan spell.

After Argentine playmaker Pablo Batalla was ruled out for the season and scoring powerhouse Peter Utaka was loaned to Shanghai Shen-xin on Sunday, Guoan were expected to add to their foreign player quota.

Fejzullahu, who played for Djurgardens IF in Sweden's top flight, was tied in second place of the Allsvenskan top-scorer list with nine goals in his 13 appearances, three goals behind leader Lasse Vibe.

"Guoan are a big club and now sit in second place, I'm here to help to win the championship," Fejzullahu said Tuesday at a news conference in Beijing.

The 26-year-old said meeting his compatriots in the Chinese Super League (CSL) will be interesting and enjoyable. Sweden forward Tobias Hyssn plays for Shanghai East Asia and is the third leading scorer in the league with 12 goals, while defender Niklas Backman is at Dalian Aerbin.

Guoan have not won in the league since the CSL resumed after a one-and-a-half-month hiatus. They suffered defeat to Henan Jianye and were held to a draw to Changchun Yatai, who are both fighting against relegation.

However, Guoan put in a convincing 3-0 win over defending champions Guizhou Renhe in the Chinese FA Cup on Thursday.

On Wednesday, Guoan host Aerbin at Workers' Stadium, but Fejzullahu is unlikely to appear in the game due to registration issues at the CFA, -China's soccer governing body, according to club chairman Gao Chao.

Guoan coach Gregorio Manzano was hoping for Fejzullahu to play on Wednesday, as the Swede could also add to Guoan's attack by playing as a winger.

Manzano was more concerned with a disciplinary hearing at the CFA on Wednesday morning, which involves central defender Lang Zheng.

Lang was caught impeding the referee giving red card to teammate Li Yunqiu during their game against Yatai on -Saturday.

Ten-man Guoan were two goals down after 40 minutes but clawed it back to 2-2 in the second half.

The hearing will decide whether Lang can play on Wednesday night or if he will face a ban of several games.
