HK official to chair climate change meeting in Guangzhou

Hong Kong's Secretary for the Environment Wong Kam-sing will leave for Guangzhou on Wednesday to chair the third meeting of the Hong Kong/Guangdong Joint Liaison Group on Combating Climate Change (JLGCCC), the local government said Tuesday.

Wong will lead a delegation of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government to attend the Guangzhou meeting. He will co-chair the meeting with Director of the Guangdong Development and Reform Commission Li Chunhong.

The Hong Kong delegation will comprise representatives from the Environmental Protection Department, Electrical and Mechanical Services Department, Hong Kong Observatory, Drainage Services Department and Civil Engineering and Development Department.

At the meeting, both sides will outline what they have been doing to combat climate change and discuss the reports of the two working groups set up under the JLGCCC.

Wong will return to Hong Kong after the meeting on Wednesday afternoon.
