A warm embrace still remains a dream for one disabled couple "married" during an online ceremony three years ago, media reported on Monday.

Ai Na, 36, from Wuhan, Central China's Hubei province met 36-year-old Sun Wenguang of Yantai, East China's Shandong province in an online chat room in 2007.

Both suffer from congenital cerebral palsy, an illness that, combined with financial difficulties and parents in poor health, has prevented the couple from traversing the 1,200 kilometers between them.

"My only and deepest wish is to see him during my lifetime. It would be nice if, just for once, I could hug my beloved in real life," said Ai.

For the past seven years, Ai and Sun have remained in a relationship solely through text and video chat.

Their love for each other culminated in a commitment ceremony and a photoshopped wedding photo in 2011, despite their parents' vehement opposition to the match.

"Our disability prevents us from providing for ourselves. We're not really suited for the outside world. Just to see each other is difficult, living a normal married life would be even more so," said Ai.
