Xi'an to host Silk Road tourism expo

The China Xi'an Silk Road International Tourism Expo 2014 will be held from Sept 19 through 21 in Xi'an, the capital of Shaanxi province, China Daily learned on Thursday.

Strongly supported by the United Nations World Tourism Organization and the China National Tourism Administration, the expo organized by the Shaanxi provincial tourism administration and co-sponsored by the Xi'an tourism administration and Shaanxi tourism association will provide an ideal one-stop business-to-business networking platform for international and domestic tourism and travel industry players.

According to Chen Qingliang, deputy director of the Shaanxi provincial tourism administration, more than 500 Chinese and international travel agencies, tour industry companies, airlines, cruise lines, banks and travel media from 30 countries will exhibit at the event.

From this year, the expo is planned as an annual event in Xi'an.
