Munich Beerfest, or Oktoberfest, one of the world's most famous beer festivals, will return to bring more surprising activities to the city next month after making its first Beijing tour last year, according to a press conference in Beijing on July 22.

The beer carnival will last 16 days, from August 15 to 30, at Beijing Olympic Park.

A "Munich Oktoberfest" tent, claimed to be the world's largest single beer tent, which covers 11,000 square meters, will be built to better present the Bavarian culture.

This year's Oktoberfest will also begin with the traditional "grand entrance" into the beer tent, where some of the oldest and most famous German beers will be served.

In addition, a popular Chinese rock band and singers will perform at the opening ceremony on August 15, the organizer said, adding that they were confident about the supply of beer and food, as well as having an emergency plan.

Some five million visitors joined last year's 17-day party. It also became a popular choice for many night life revellers in Beijing.
