Driver escapes from crushed car

A shipping container rolled from a truck and flattened a sedan in Qingdao, Shandong province, killing the car's passenger while miraculously leaving its driver with only minor injuries on Tuesday.

The ordeal began when the truck swerved to avoid the sedan at an intersection in Chengyang district, according to the truck's driver surnamed Gong, who also suffered minor injuries.

The container was thrown from the truck, crushing the vehicle to a height of 60 centimeters and killing its male passenger while leaving both drivers trapped in their vehicles.

Amazingly the woman trapped in the sedan survived and remained conscious as rescuers worked to free her from the car.

Traffic police called in a crane to hoist the container while firefighters cut through the sedan to reach the accident victims.

The woman had just learned to drive, according to her husband.
