After more than 14 years on the run, a fugitive suspected of robbery and murder in Beijing was arrested in Heilongjiang province, police said on Wednesday.
The 40-year-old fugitive, surnamed Xue, a native of the Inner Mongolia autonomous region, was arrested in Heilongjiang province on July 17 and escorted to Beijing on Wednesday, according to the Beijing Public Security Bureau.
Xue and another man surnamed Liu allegedly robbed and killed the female owner of an inn surnamed Zeng in Beijing's Huairou district in March 2000.
On Jan 15, Beijing police arrested Liu, a 34-year-old from Jilin province. Liu confessed that they robbed and killed Zeng, according to the statement.
Based on Liu's confession, Beijing police discovered that Xue had changed his name and fled China to be a chef abroad, the statement said.
Xue was arrested after he returned to his residence in Heilongjiang province.
