Beginning on September 1, some 119 long-distance bus stations in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region will begin implementing stricter security checks for those purchasing tickets.

According to the Xinjiang Metropolis Daily, passengers must show valid ID cards when buying bus tickets, or a certificate from the local public security bureau if the individual's ID card is lost or invalid. Passengers with second-generation ID cards, which contain a magnetic strip with each individual's information, will be able to register directly using electronic scanners.

Passengers holding other forms of valid ID will have their information entered manually into an electronic ticketing sales system now in use across 101 bus stations in Xinjiang.

Real-name functionality will be developed and added into the current online ticket sales system, and ticket sales counters will be provided with ID card scanners. After the updates to the online ticket sales system, passengers' names, ID numbers, travel itinerary, and bus license number will all be printed directly on the ticket.
