Promoting philosophy and social science study

The National Management Society of the Social Science Research in Colleges and Universities held its annual work conference at Shanxi University on July 18.

People from education systems across the country, representatives of governing units, social science management organs and authors of conference papers got together to discuss how to reform the science research field and to push forward the philosophy and social science development in colleges and universities of Central and western China.

Li Weihong, deputy head of the Ministry of Education, was on hand to address the conference. The study and implementation of the guiding principles of President Xi Jinping's speeches is a significant political task for the education system. Through the study, it should enhance the sense of mission and responsibility and grasp the opportunity for philosophy and social science's development, according to Li.

In her speech, Li stressed fostering core socialist values, the consciousness of professionals, strengthening coordination and innovation, promoting a new type of think-tank as well as foreign exchange and communication.

On behalf of the CPC Shanxi provincial committee and the province's government, Hu Suping, director of Shanxi Publicity Department, greeted the conference opening. She recognized the conference's significance for Shanxi University as well as the development of philosophy and social science in the province. She encouraged integrating the study of philosophy and social science with Shanxi's rich historical culture and modern spirit.

At the conference, representatives from universities and educational organs throughout the country brainstormed about carrying forward philosophy and social science development at Central and western China's colleges and universities.

Shanxi University, organizer of the conference, strives to be a leader in the province's philosophy and social science study.
