Zhangjiakou, the city bidding to jointly host the 2022 Winter Olympics with Beijing, has staged its first-ever international marathon, and over 3,000 runners competed in the races in Hebei province.
Three categories of marathon were held in Kangbao County - full, half, and mini. Nearly 7,000 amateur competitors also took part in the event.
Zhao Baidong from Inner Mongolia won the men's title in two hours, 31 minutes and 13 seconds. He beat Kenya's Julius Ki-bitok Koech, by one minute and 26 seconds. Another runner from Inner Mongolia, Bai Xuemei, won the women's title in two hours, 50 minutes and 17 seconds.
