Shanghai's Science and Technology Museum is having an especially busy summer this year. Managers say that since the school holidays began, the museum is getting more than 20-thousand visitors each weekend.

Even before the museum opens at 9am, many people are already lined up for tickets. Half of the visitors are from outside Shanghai, and some of them even arrived at the museum with their luggage.

"We will go to another place to have fun and another hotel to stay after the visit," said a visitor.

Managers say during this year's summer holiday, the museum is introducing more exciting exhibits, including one from Canada that shows the science behind some of the everyday things we use.

"We will also hold an international youth science and technology expo. Many children from around the world will showcase their science work here and compete with each other," said SSTM deputy curator Gu Qingsheng.

Officials say primary and middle school students who have an authorized pass for social practice may visit the museum for free. And their parents can also get their tickets for half off the normal price. But there aren't any discounts for foreigners. The museum is open from 9am to 5:15pm, but is closed on Mondays except for national holidays.
