The 2014 Summer Youth Olympics are set to begin August 16th. The Athletes Village is now open to the media who will be covering the competition in East China.

The Village consists of six residential and four supporting buildings. It's divided into three functional areas where athletes can enjoy dining, medical, and training services.

In the residential area, the facilities were built using green and low-carbon methods. Rain water will be collected for irrigation, while the energy for air-conditioning will come from discarded steam from a nearby power plant. During the Youth Olympics, the residential area will provide more than 3,000 rooms for the delegations.

Five Athletes Canteens can cater up to 2,700 people, and the competitors can enjoy more than 600 dishes, including local delicacies like braised meatballs and Yangzhou fried rice.
