Two ministries have allocated 100 million yuan (16.1 million U.S. dollars) to subsidize flood-displaced residents in the eastern and central Chinese provinces of Jiangxi and Hunan, the Ministry of Civil Affairs said in a statement on its website Friday.

The funds, jointly sent by the MCA and the Ministry of Finance, will be used to resettle displaced residents, subsidize their living expenses, rebuild collapsed and damaged housing, and console the relatives of victims.

Both Jiangxi and Hunan were hit by heavy rains and serious flooding from June 17 to 23.

To respond to the natural disasters, authorities in both Jiangxi and Hunan have forwarded disaster-relief funds and sent items including quilts, tents, and straw mats to the disaster zone.
