A Shaanxi province court heard a lawsuit filed by a man against his new bride for running off with her ex-boyfriend during their wedding reception, the Chinese Business View reported Wednesday.

The Huxian county court judge granted Shi Tou a divorce from his new wife Fang Fang (both pseudonyms) and ordered her to return 30,000 yuan ($4,839) in cash for wedding gifts after she ditched Shi for her ex-boyfriend at the family gathering.

Shi and Fang married in November 2013 after dating for one month, said the report.

Four days after the wedding ceremony the couple held a reception, to which, inexplicably, Fang's ex-boyfriend Li Yang (pseudonym) was also invited.

Shi and Li reportedly detested each other from the start and their bickering escalated.

The drama was punctuated by Fang grabbing ex-boyfriend Li and marching off, leaving her new husband and all those in attendance in a state of shock.

Devastated, Shi filed a lawsuit in April and sought 88,000 yuan for mental anguish and wedding expenses.
