Su Rong has been removed from his post as vice chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee, according to a decision made at a CPPCC meeting on Wednesday.

Participants at a conference of the Standing Committee of the 12th CPPCC National Committee also agreed to strip Su of his membership of the committee.

He is being probed for suspected disciplinary violations, the discipline watchdog of the Communist Party of China (CPC) revealed in a statement on June 14.

Born in 1948, Su is a native of north China's Jilin Province. From 2001 to 2013, he served successively as Party chief of Qinghai Province, Gansu Province, and Jiangxi Province.

At Wednesday's meeting, participants also endorsed decisions to expel Song Lin, former China Resources chairman, and Ye Wanyong, former political commissar of the People's Liberation Army's Sichuan Military Area Command, from the CPPCC National Committee.

The two decisions were respectively made at the 15th and 16th meetings of chairman and vice chairpersons of the CPPCC National Committee.
