China, Myanmar vow to enhance media exchange, cooperation

Information officials of China and Myanmar vowed Thursday to further enhance exchange and cooperation in the media sector.

  The pledge was made when Chinese Minister for Information Office of the State Council Cai Mingzhao met separately with Myanmar Information Minister U Aung Kyi and Minister of Science and Technology Dr. Ko Ko Oo in Nay Pyi Taw.

The two sides held the view that in Myanmar's transition period, further strengthening the two countries' exchange and cooperation in the media sector contributes not only to the enhancement of understanding and friendship between the two peoples but also to continued development of the two countries' neighborly, friendly and cooperative ties.

Cai attended the 3rd ASEAN+3 Ministers Meeting Responsible for Information (AMRI+3) hosted by Myanmar and proposed a three-point suggestions on ASEAN+3 media exchange and cooperation.

On the same day, Myanmar President U Thein Sein also received Cai along with other ministers attending the meeting.
