A blast erupted at a chemical factory in Nanjing city, capital of East China's Jiangsu province, around 1 pm Monday, after several petroleum tanks exploded, Yangtze Evening News reported on its official Sina Weibo account.

The blast occurred at Sinopec Yangzi Petrochemical Co. in Liuhe district in northern Nanjing.

More than 10 fire trucks have arrived at the site and firefighting efforts are continuing.

No injuries were reported.
