Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Li Baodong on Thursday called for strengthening international cooperation for cyberspace security, stability and prosperity.

Information and communication technologies bring new digital opportunities and unprecedented challenges, said Li at an international symposium on information and network security in Beijing.

All countries should abandon the zero-sum mentality and Cold War ideology and set up the new security concept featuring mutual trust and benefit, equality and coordination, said Li.

Every nation has the jurisdiction over information and communication facilities and activities as well as the right to draft cyber policies in line with its own circumstances, he said at the conference jointly held by China and the United Nations.

No country is allowed to use Internet to interfere with domestic affairs of other countries or harm the interests of others, said Li.

The multilateral, democratic and transparent principle should be abided by to realize that resources are shared, responsibilities jointly undertaken, cooperation and joint governance is carried out, he said.

A win-win and mutual benefit concept should also be promoted, said Li.

The Chinese diplomat also pointed out the double standards of a certain country for the sake of its own interests.

The Chinese side is seriously concerned about this, said Li. Those hypocritical and arbitrary acts such as groundless accusations and defamations must be corrected, he said.

With the theme of building a peaceful, secure, open and cooperative cyberspace, the two-day meeting is attended by some 100 representatives from more than 20 nations and international organizations.
