A suspect in the murder of five people in east China's Jiangxi province on Monday was arrested Wednesday night, local police announced Thursday.

Five residents of Xiaozu Village in Huichang County in the city of Ganzhou, including three 6-year-old children, were killed around 4pm on Monday by villager Liu Junchun, said Lin Shaorong, director of the publicity office with the Ganzhou Municipal Public Security Bureau.

An initial police investigation found that the suspect is the neighbor of the victims, who were grandparents and grandchildren. The suspect had a property dispute with the victims, according to the police.

Details about the case remain unclear and further investigation is under way.
