China's Huading Awards have been handed out at a glittering event in Los Angeles. Halle Berry won the Global Icon Award, Orlando Bloom the Best Global Movie Star Award, and Charlie Hunnam the Best Global Emerging Actor Award.

The Huading Awards, established in 2007, were handed out in the United States for the first time, at Los Angeles's Ricardo Montalban Theater.

The show was co-hosted by Lucy Liu and Olivia Xu. The bilingual award show's winners were selected by an estimated 80 million Chinese through online voting and surveys.

When awarded the Global Icon Award, Halle Berry recalled her trip to China a few years back.

"A few years ago I managed to go to Shanghai, make movies and entertain the Chinese audience," she said.

"Pacific Rim" actor Charlie Hunnam joked about his age when receiving the Best Global Emerging Actor Award.

"It's taken me 16 years of work to be recognized as an emerging talent, so I better keep taking my vitamins if I ever want to win a Lifetime Achievement Award," he said.

"Pacific Rim" was filmed in Hong Kong by visionary director Guillermo del Toro, who was named the Best Global Director. The director explained how he chose Hong Kong as the setting for his film.

"I first went to Hong Kong as a very young man...thought one day I'll put it into a movie," Del Toro said.

"Pirates of the Caribbean" star Orlando Bloom was given the Best Global Movie Star Award. In his speech, he said that he hopes to make a film in China sometime in his career.

Jordana Brewster and Tyrese Gibson were present on behalf of the cast and crew of "Fast and Furious 6." The action flick won Best Global Movie of the Year.

DreamWorks Animation CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg received an honor for "The Croods," which was chosen the Best Global Animated Film of 2013 by Chinese movie-goers.

Famous composer Hans Zimmer started his music career in a low-end job for "The Last Emperor." Years later, he has countless film scores under his belt, including the music for "Kung Fu Panda." He will be record the score for the next "Kung Fu Panda" movie in China with Chinese musicians and other composers. On Sunday night, he was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award.
