Chengdu to reward terrorism whistle-blowers

Police in Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan province, announced on June 2 that people who provide tips about criminal violent and terrorist activities will be rewarded, Western China Metropolis Daily reported on Tuesday.

Residents in the city were encouraged to report their suspicions by dialing the 110 police hotline or sending e-mail to CDFK@vip.163.com. Such tips are eligible for rewards of 1,000 yuan ($160) to 500,000 yuan, according to the role they play in preventing terrorist actions.

Police will strictly protect the privacy of the informants and those who provide false information will be punished in accordance with the relevant law.
