Rare archives to debut

Residents can dial 6764-0609 from June 3 to register with the Beijing Municipal Archives in Fengtai district to see precious collections, including the decree of Emperor Qianlong (1711-1799) of the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) and former leader Mao Zedong's manuscripts of the inscription on the Monument to the People's Heroes, the Beijing News reported.

It marks the first time 58 rare archives will be shown to the public. The display is to commemorate International Archives Day, which falls on June 9.

Registrations close at 4:30 pm on June 6. A total of 200 visitors will be selected to see the collection on June 9.
