Shangri-la Dialogue focuses on security in Asia-Pacific

The Shangri-la Dialogue, or the 13th Asia Security Summit will open today in Singapore. Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the People's Liberation Army Wang Guanzhong leads the Chinese delegation to the meeting.

The three-day meeting will discuss security issues in Asia-Pacific region. Wang will deliver a speech to explain the Asia security outlook proposed by President Xi Jinping, and the Chinese military's application of the security outlook. Wang will also meet with military and defense leaders from the region, to exchange views on regional security and strengthen military ties.

Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe will deliver a keynote speech. He is expected to promote his "proactive pacifism" and Japan's collective self-defense right.
