A 10-year-old boy who received part of his mother's liver in a transplant as a baby is looking for her more than six years after she left home, New Express Daily reported on Thursday.

According to the boy's father, surnamed Chen, he married the boy's mother Ding Yan in 2003 when they were both migrant workers in Dongguan, Guangdong province, and the boy was born in December 2004. In June 2005, the boy was found to be suffering advanced cirrhosis and was given part of Ding's liver.

One day in 2008, Ding said she wanted to go back to her hometown in Sichuan province and her husband and son never saw her again. Chen said he called Ding's phone number, but it was not in use. He thought his wife left home because of their hard life as his wage was only some 1,000 yuan ($160) per month, which did not even cover the cost of the boy's follow-up treatment.

The boy misses his mother very much and has asked for help to find her.
