The CPC disciplinary body in Shijiazhuang, Hebei province, has released a new rule forbidding Party or government officials to invite colleagues or subordinates to weddings or funerals in a bid to avoid corruption.

The regulation requires the officials to report to Party disciplinary bodies when they are to hold weddings or funerals involving their spouses, parents, children or direct siblings.

A number of excessively luxurious weddings or funerals have recently been reported in Shijiazhuang. Some officials held smaller scale ceremonies on more than one occasion, authorities said.

The new rule will allow only one wedding ceremony at a single location within one day, with a maximum of 20 guest tables and only relatives allowed to be invited.
