Senior leader meets Taiwan media group delegation

Top political advisor Yu Zhengsheng on Friday promised consistency in the Chinese mainland's Taiwan policy and further measures to boost ties across the Taiwan Strait.

Yu, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, made the remarks when meeting with Taiwan's Want Want China Times Media Group headed by its chairman Tsai Eng-Meng.

He said peaceful cross-Strait ties are in keeping with the interests of people on both sides of the Strait, and that the Chinese mainland will maintain its policy toward Taiwan, to maintain the political basis of the peaceful development of cross-Strait relations.

"We will take measures to improve trust and understanding and unite compatriots from Taiwan to continually push forward peaceful development of cross-Strait relations," said Yu.

Yu also praised the media group for its contribution to the media exchange between the Chinese mainland and Taiwan, while expressing his hope that the media group can continue to do so to help build a good public opinion environment for peaceful development of cross-Strait relations.
