At the Badminton's Thomas Cup, where the defending champions - the Chinese men's team were taking on Thailand for a spot in the Semi-Finals.

Olympic bronze medallist Chen Long would face Thailand's Boonsak Ponsana in the first singles match. The Chinese world number two dominated from the very start and beat his opponent easily 21-15, 21-8 and China draw first blood in the best of five team event.

The pair of Chai Biao and Hong Wei carried the flag for China in the next battle. The Chinese team overcoming Nipitphon Puangpuapech and Maneepong Jongjit 21-18, 21-14. Their win giving China a 2-nothing lead, and one win from advancing.

The next singles match saw, Tanongsak Saensomboonsuk challenge China's Du Pengyu. Du grabbed the opening game, but really had to work for the second, edging his competitor 22-20 to give China a 3-0 win. The defending champs will take on Japan in the semi-finals.
