Security Chief vows to crackdown on terrorism

China's Security Chief has called for a more resolute attitude and more forceful measures to be taken to crack down on terrorists.

Meng Jianzhu, head of the Commission for Political and Legal Affairs of the CPC Central Committee held an emergency video conference with Xinjiang Party officials to address the terrorist attack. Meng said the rising number of terrorist attacks show China is facing severe challenges in cracking down on terrorist activities. He called for all localities to keep on high alert and take forceful measures to punish terrorists. Meng also called on local governments to mobilize people to fight against terrorist attacks. He asked local governments to step up patrolling, and collect information on terrorist activities to prevent attacks. Meng demanded local officials be held responsible for containing terrorists attacks and implementing anti-terrorist measures effectively.
